About Us

Hope For Friends, Inc. is an Arizona nonprofit corporation which was founded in 2010 by Tracy Rish Spain, a local entrepreneur and community activist.  A dear friend of Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid-2010.  Tracy’s friend is a single mother with no family other than her young son.  She is a private, strong woman with an inconsistent income and was reluctant to ask for help because she did not want to impose on her friends.  Asking for money to pay for living expenses was out of the question for her.  Tracy understood that help was urgently needed and was concerned that her friend was going to fall into a desperate situation and had no built in support network.  Tracy realized that there are many breast cancer patients who need financial assistance and a support network during their treatment and recovery.  She learned that many of her friends and business associates were willing to help, too.

Tracy became a voice for her friend, asking for help for this courageous woman.  Friends, business associates, and those who don’t even know Tracy or her friend came on board quickly to lend a hand with money and time.  Hope For Friends intends to help many Friends in the Valley who are being treated for breast cancer and during their recovery period who urgently need the kind of help that is not available from health insurance policies and government program
